Members:
The beneficiaries of Project Africa are women and girls living in remote rural villages of Kenya. Most of the women are widows or single mothers, while majority of the girls are orphans heading households. Both the women and girls joined Project Africa with low-self esteem because they have never been encouraged to believe that anything good can come from them. The education level of the women is low. In Lungalunga, for instance, At least 90 percent of the women are illiterate while in Kakamega most women dropped out of school for various reasons and opted for marriage at an early age. The average number of children per woman is five, many have adopted orphaned children from their siblings who have died of HIV/Aids and other catastrophes.

Volunteers
Many individuals have shared in our vision and helped in making the vision of Project Africa come to pass. We are grateful to our volunteers and development mentors who work in our office in Sweden, and in our projects in Africa. Meet our Volunteers!!!

The Founder
Project Africa was founded by Lindy Wafula who many friends call Lin. Lin was born and grew up in Kenya. When aged 14 Years, she was devastated by the death of the most special woman in her life. Her mother died of HIV/Aids and soon after her father succumbed to the disease. Lin was left with a responsibility to care and provide for her sibblings. Her story of Pain that she endured in the bid to keep her family together is one that is shared by many women and girls in Africa today. Read More about Lin's Story .
