At least 15 Women in Project Africa Kakamega, Kenya attended a one day course on the need to plant trees alongside foodcrops in their gardens. The course was conducted by David Tye of Trees for the Future.

Our  first  group of  Stars of Africa   graduated  on 20th   December 2008   at   a colourful ceremony  held at Project Africa  mission House in Kakamega Kenya.  The Stars  of Africa  participated in  basic computer training   program  where they learnt   how  to write a word document amongst  other  tools. Following their graduation,  They were presented with  Certificates of Participation  and Story books. invited  guests  and parents applauded  Project Africa for  initiating such a program for   girls  sighting that most  development  programs have by passed  girls  yet their empowerment  is  needful if  the  cycle of gender  inequality must be broken.

After  receiving a donation of   two sewing machines  and   a loan of  USD 100,  Daughters of Zion  women's group  a partner  self  help  group  for women in  Shianda, Mumias launched  a  Project Africa  empowerment centre in their community.
